50 Short Stories in 2021: A Challenge

Back in March on this blog I mentioned my thoughts of doing a writing challenge. I was thinking about writing 50 new short stories over the course of 2021. Then I kind of forgot about that. But I wanted to do a bit of an update on all of that because I've decided to do it.

So far, I have written three new short stories. All of them were taken from stories that I'd started and eventually abandoned for one reason or another. In fact, I'm hitting all of the story fragments I have and will finish them all. Then I'll be starting new stories completely from scratch.

Most of those new stories will be fantasy and science fiction, but I'm looking at trying more genres as I go. I've done a few over the years, but I figure it makes sense to dabble in all genres just to be a well-rounded storyteller. That's a key part of this whole challenge. So is practice. I plan on practicing my writing over the coming months, one story or one book at a time.

Almost all of these stories will be published in Kilgore's Five Stories.

Going forward, I will be making updates on my progress. Part of the challenge is just getting into a good writing routine so I can hit that end goal.

Wish me luck, guys.

Be back soon.
