Writing A Book - What Are Some Different Approaches?

You know, since I've started to work on a new book, I've been sitting here thinking about what sort  of methods I would use. I mean for the novel I wrote, I sort of started with the "discovery writer" method and later did some chapter by chapter break downs - or my own unique outlining method. I know that some of my fellow writers would object to cashing out a line to catch all the different methods for putting a book together from concept to finished pages. It may  not be because you're loathe to share your "secrets" but rather about burdening future writers with an outline of the convoluted ways you may have gone before you settled upon a collection of methods that worked well for you - at least on a book-by-book basis.

Setting The Pace In The Writing Business

Sometimes, it seems as though I've always been a working writer. The sort of schedules that many of us freelancers work is so fluid and ever-changing, and, yes, so different from the world of the 9 to 5 that time almost moves differently. Call it a lack of attention to scheduling or just the consequences of setting one's one wide-ranging schedules, but there is this perception of long duration that rules my thoughts each day. I have to remind myself that I've only be privileged to call writing my job for a little over four years. Any writing I did before that time was unpaid and for my own edification.

Multiple Author Events: My First Experience

Hello. It's be a little while since I wrote something besides an update. I just wanted to share my first impressions of a small author signing/event that I was able to attend yesterday. I suppose I had a few good reasons to be there - two of which relate to publishing. The other was purely based on my interest as a writer hoping to meet fellow writers. I had some expectations that proved accurate and others that were not presented in that setting. I hope to add more events to my belt in the near future.

Updates: What's Going On In My World

Sometimes, there is nothing to be said but to give all of you an update about what is going on in my little corner of the world. That's the freedom of this blog, I suppose. I hope all of you have been working on your own projects or contemplating the start of some piece of writing. Writers, we must never stop writing!

Entering The Territory Of Publishing...A Few Of My First Steps

Since the last time I wrote here, my father had his first book signing, and I've begun the process of securing what I hope will be the second title in Founders House Publishing. With such strides, there is a mixture of happiness and anticipation swirling together inside my mind. After all, it is an ambitious prospect, isn't it? I've taken another step. I hope that there will be others to follow.
